About “CESIMI”
CESIMI consists of three families, namely CEsar, SImon and Mlrville. It is a group of non-professional music enthusiasts who have devoted time and energy to learn, practice, perform popular songs and simultaneously enjoy good times in the family setting.
It started when Marthelly Cesar presented the idea to perform karaoke songs at home. The initiative bourgeoned and in a successive fashion, cow bells, drums, microphones/wires, microphone stands, amplifiers, speakers, digital recording equipment of several types were bought. In sessions, French, English, Spanish and Creole songs were all in the repertoire. As the library continued to grow, the group enjoyed some degree of comfort.
After acquiring its name, CESIMI performed for the first time at the Simon’s Valley Stream Jazz in 2015. The group: Carl Cesar, Marthelly Cesar, Marie Joelle Cesar, Harry Mirville and Doris Simon magically interpreted many beautiful songs. Shannone Cesar was a leading voice in her own right, Amanda Mirville was on viola and Ashley Simon was on Piano. Their guest performers, Sumner, a jazz vocalist sung some standards and Lesline Charles was on flute. It was a fabulous performance. From that time on, CESIMI has been the principal performance that so many, if not, most of the attendees look forward to. Nicole Francis joined the group as an extended family member.
